Ian's probably best known for the atmospheric visuals he created for the game Lost Patrol. His interest for creating game graphics got sparked by seeing Defender of the Crown on the Amiga, but he felt that only few artists were attempting to create realistic images like that.

The horizon increases the amount of colors to a number way higher than 32, but I guess it's just a placeholder for a standard copper gradient, that could have been added later by code.
