This is the game that Jim Sachs is most famous for and which most people remember, even today.
He was responsible for most of the graphics of the original. For the sequel he took everything into his own hands and completely rebuilt the game.
The graphics, although looking fairly similar, also received a major overhaul. Ranging from minor adjustments to complete repaints. Most of the images were also extended to 64 colors, utilizing the Amigas EHB screen mode.
Images from Defender of the Crown (1986) and Defender of the Crown 2 (1993) are combined and can be compared directly via the Comparison Mode.

The hand painted map from Defender of the Crown was replaced by a picture that was grabbed from video and touched up.
This was a technique that Jim used more often in his later work to speed up his workflow, because pixeling everything by hand took a lot of time, which was rarely available when developing a game.

This image was not drawn by Jim Sachs and he was not happy with it. He therefore created a completely new version for Defender of the Crown 2.
