Amiga Graphics Archive

Launched in 1985 the Commodore Amiga boasted graphics capabilities that were unsurpassed for it's time.
It featured an intricate collection of custom chips that enabled it to do things that, until then, had been impossible to achieve with other personal computers.
This site is dedicated to graphics made with or for the Commodore Amiga home computer.

More Das große Amiga Jahrbuch 1987 images

Added more images from the Das Grosse Amiga Jahrbuch 1987, including a lot of page scans.

The book included a lot of famous images, which I had already added in other collections, but I've not been able to find any of the artsy or kids drawings.

Added a huge selection of color cycling images by Ken Costello. Some of them are simple experiments, others have really creative and intricate animations. Many created around 1986, when the Amiga was still brand new on the market.

I found several very old images by Jo-Anne Park, including some C64 versions, which also led me to her full name. She was already very active on the C64 and you can see the progression when she went on to the Amiga.

First update of the year and I added a whole collection of nice images from CU Amiga magazine.

I went down the rabbit hole and added scans from the magazines' Art Gallery section, which included lots more really cool art. But as usual it's been really difficult to find the original versions of these images.

Various color cycling images

Added a big selection of color cycling images, each with interesting and fascinating techniques to achieve astonishing animations simply by shifting the color values around the palette.

I also built a new color cycling converter that can better fit these animations into loopable sections and can also handle interlaced images.

More Amiga Magazin images

Added the next batch of Amiga Magazin images. This time from the color cycling contests in July 1988.

I switched the format for images with color cycling or animations in CRT mode to MP4, because some of the loops were getting too long and using animated WEBP files wasn't practical anymore.

As I had already included several images from these competitions (like Orlando Petermann, Jens Eisert, Walter Bergmann and others...), I have also added a section for all publications, where you can see all the images at together.

Magazine art contest images

Added a whole bunch of images that were printed in various magazines as part of art contests - mostly from german Amiga Magazin.

Finding original files isn't easy, since magazines rarely distributed the submissions during the 80ies.

This got better during the 90ies, when coverdisks and cdroms were more common, but sadly by that time a lot of submissions consisted of 3D renderings and photo collages, instead of hand crafted pixel art.
